Girls Volleyball Corbin Finishes as 50th District Runner-Up, Turns Attention to Region
Corbin’s bid for a 50th District volleyball championship ended Tuesday night as Whitley County defeated the Lady Redhounds in straight sets, 25–14, 25–16 and 25–19.
The Lady Redhounds finished the district tournament as runners-up and will carry a 22–15 record into the 13th Region Tournament. Whitley County improved to 33–4 while claiming its second consecutive district title.
Corbin faced an early challenge as the Lady Colonels took control of the opening set. Whitley County maintained that advantage throughout the second, winning 25–16 to put the Lady Redhounds one set away from elimination.
The third set produced the closest margin of the night, but Corbin could not extend the match. Whitley County closed out the championship with a 25–19 victory.
The result marked Corbin’s third loss to the Lady Colonels this season and Whitley County’s fifth consecutive victory in the rivalry.
For the Lady Redhounds, the focus now shifts to regional play. The district final was a disappointing finish to their championship bid, but Corbin’s season continues with another postseason opportunity in the 13th Region Tournament.
